Nordic Odyssey

The Nordic Odyssey expedition made a circumnavigation of Norway by ski and sail. Starting at Dalen, in Norway's Telemark region, the team skied over 2,084km through the mountains to reach Lakselv, 500 km north of the arctic circle in the Finnmark region of Arctic Norway. From there they embarked in a 19ft long traditional gaff rigged yacht and rounded Norway's most northerly point, before completing the circumnavigation via Norway's ruggedly beautiful and fjord dominated western coastline.

Clive and his wife Francesca departed Lakselv on the 7th May in their 21ft Cornish Shrimper to sail round the coast of Norway, rouding Nordkapp on 16th May a ..... more

As we celebrated the rounding with a pizza and a couple of beers in Mandal, Norway's most southerly town, we were able to reflect on the fact that even after 63 days and almost 14 ..... more

Sailing to ski factory!

picTananger. 275 miles remaining - we're getting there Since rounding Statt we have made steady progress southwards, helped by winds which have continued to blow from the north. Whilst the winds have been kind to us, the weather has been less so. In the past 5 days we have experienced more rain than in the previous 60 days added together. The west coast of Norway is living up to its reputation as the wettest part of Norway! In the middle of the leg we made a short but welcome detour to visit t ..... more
